Automobile industry
(1) By shifting the center of gravity of the car back and reducing the weight of the front, the acceleration/deceleration, handling/steering response performance of the car can be improved.
(2) Because magnesium alloys can be cast into complete large-size parts, they do not have to be combined by many individual parts like steel parts (these parts are easy to rub against each other and cause vibration), which can minimize automobile noise.
(3) Since magnesium castings may be cheaper than the same steel parts (especially when the annual output is less than 200000 pieces), the manufacturing cost can be reduced. The processing cost of magnesium castings is lower than that of steel stamping parts composed of multiple parts, because each part of the stamping part requires a corresponding mold. For example, the processing of a 30-part steel instrument panel beam requires 30 sets of tooling, while the cast magnesium beam requires only 6 sets of tooling.
